Haiti Cultural Book

This project was to select a developing country, research what is significant about their culture, and create a book based on three elements of their culture. I chose Haiti because its culture intrigued me the most, especially its relationship with freedom from France. The artistic style I was going with with the illustrations resembled the sequin work they used in Haiti.

I focused on a structure that is significant to their history, the event they celebrate their freedom, and a cultural dish.

This section focuses on one of their holidays, Independence Day. This day celebrates their libration from France.

This section focuses on a historical landmark in Haiti. Citadelle Laiferriere is a significant landmark to the Haitians because it was a forte that kept the people safe from the French tyrants.

This section is focused on a cultural food dish. This is pumpkin soup, a recipe that has been passed down many generations in Haiti.

This is the style guide. Showing the books typography, grid system, typographical layout, and color palette.
